Managing Work Related Stress
What is Stress?
We all experience certain pressures throughout our lives and for a variety of reasons. It could be a work related issue, relationship difficulties, financial worries or a vast range of other reasons. The impact of facing these pressures depends upon the issue, our perception of it and our ability to cope or deal with it. Sometimes the pressures we face can be motivating and positive. However at other times, the pressure may feel overwhelming. If the situation causing the excessive pressure remains unresolved, we may start to suffer from stress related symptoms. These can be emotional, physical or behavioural in nature.
Signs of Stress
There are certain signs and symptoms that suggest you may be suffering from a stress related problem. These can be emotional, physical or behavioural in nature. If you think you may be suffering symptoms of a stress related problem, you should seek advice from your GP or Occupational Health as soon as possible.
Causes of Stress
Stress can result when the pressures we face out weigh our ability to cope with them. Stress related problems usually result from a mixture of different, excessive pressures emanating from our home life and/or work life. However everyone reacts differently to different amounts and types of pressure, what one person sees as stressful, another may see as a challenge and motivating.
